MOH Collaboration with Royal Adelaide Hospital (RAH) Australia
The association between MOH and Royal Adelaide Hospital ( RAH) dates back to 1990 when Dr. Henry Newland, Director of Ophthalmology of RAH visited Myanmar as a WHO consultant to conduct training in Yag laser iridotomy for treatment and prevention of Angle Closure glaucoma.  Between this and 1998, he made 3 more visits to Myanmar as WHO consultant to conduct training in corneal grafting, Vitreo-retinal surgery and phaeco-emulsification. Subsequently specialists teams from RAH led by Dr. James Muecke made a teaching visit to Yangon Eye Hospital and Mandalay Eye E.N.T Hospital in 2000 and 2001, which was planned in consultation with Prof. Than Aung. Discussion and drafting of Sisterhood affiliation between MOH and RAH began following these visits. Efforts made by the two parties resulted in the draft and approval by the authorities concerned.
